Verizon Buys Alltel Wireless Network

Alltel phones Prepaid my account page is today serving peak. I mean, its on everyone’s visit list for the day. However, this page seems to be currently unavailable due to System implementation issues. Alltel Corporation was until its acquisition by Verizon Wireless, the fifth largest wireless telecommunications company in USA. Alltel telecommunications gets 14.7 million customers, as of the fourth quarter 2008, behind AT&T Mobility, Sprint-Nextel, and T-Mobile.
Alltel operated the network in 34 states of USA, with a wireless coverage area comprising the largest network in the United States in terms of area wise. Its Net income was worth $183 million during 2007. The Alltel Corporation was founded by Little Rock, Arkansas (USA).Telecom giant Verizon bought Alltel wireless in a $28.1 million deal last November, but Alltel users are just now beginning to be integrated into the Verizon system. The merger brings Verizon’s total subscribers to approximately 83.8 million, taking the number one spot from cell giant AT&T.
Alltel customers don’t have to worry about switching plans or upgrading phones until their Alltel contract runs out. The majority of Alltel phones are compatible with the Verizon network and once their contract is up the can choose to stay with Verizon or leave.
