England vs West Indies | 3rd ODI | Edgbaston | Live Cricket Scores

Watch Live Streaming of  the 3rd ODI between England and West Indies which will begin in Edbaston, England from Tuesday May 26  Start time 10.45 (9.45GMT)

The 1st ODI was washed out due to Rain . The 2nd ODI England won quite easily . this is the deciding ODI and England would like to wrap up this match and Win the series.

The teams have met four times at Edgbaston with the head-to-head standing at 2-2.

Team news

Unless the England management want to have a look at Ryan Sidebottom and Ian Bell there seems little reason to change a winning side. This will be Strauss’s last match as captain before the Ashes - he hands over the captaincy to Paul Collingwood for the World Twenty20.

West Indies surely must look to make some changes. Lendl Simmons is struggling with his technique against the moving ball and they really need the strike power of Fidel Edwards.

  • Pitch and conditions

Edgbaston pitches this season have been slow and low with little on offer for the bowlers, but international surfaces have always tended to offer more than those for domestic cricket. The forecast looks good with just a slim chance of a shower.

The groups were revealed on 31 October 2007, based on finishing positions at the 2007 ICC Twenty20 World Cup, though there are two three associate positions which were determined in a tournament to be played in Belfast between 2nd and 4th August 2008 between Kenya, Scotland, Ireland, The Netherlands, Canada and Bermuda. Ireland and the Netherlands, having reached the final of that competition, qualified as of right.

    Group A
    Bangladesh
    India
    Ireland
    Group B
    England
    Netherland
    Pakistan
    Group C
    Australia
    Sri Lanka
    West Indies
    Group D
    New Zealand
    Scotland
    South Africa

On 4th July 2008 Zimbabwe, under pressure from South Africa and England over political matters related to Robert Mugabe, pulled out of the tournament of their own volition. The Qualifier was changed to include a third place match and iwill be replaced by the third placed team from the qualifier tournament, Scotland

The initial format with four groups of three is the same as that used at the 2007 Twenty20 World Cup.

Deccan Chargers wins IPL 2009 Season 2

Deccan Chargers win IPL 2009. They won against Royal Challengers in the IPL Final match here at Johannesberg, South Africa.

Well, what a cricket it has been!!! I must admit, I have not seen nor heard of this big of the scale of the entertaining cricket event ever, nor could have been with any of the sporting events that are held in South Africa. It was mind blowing. It was refreshing. It was exciting. It was heart pumping. It was entertaining all through. And I could just not stop at those 'It was..' lines, well because I have had my fun all through the match and an in all this tournament was really worth every penny that was spent on it. You deserve hats off!! Mr. Lalit Modi!!

The result of DLF IPL 2009 :

Deccan Chargers have won the IPL 2009. They defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2009 Final. My tournamnt favourites Deccan Chargers are the champion winners of the IPL 2009. Congratuations Deccan Chargers!! and Thank you Gilly!! :-)

Well done, Anil Kumble for changing the charts and for a remarkable sport and also Congratulations!! for Man of the Final Match award! :-)

Here is the story of the final exhilirating match goes:

Winning the toss, Royal Challengers elected to field. The first over was from the mister captain Anil Kumble himself getting Adam Gilchrist off the first over itself, setting the tone for disciplined bowling attack.

Deccan Chargers could still set the 144 runs target —a victory target for Royal Challenger Bangalore in the Indian Premier League final at Johannesburg on Sunday

Royal Challengers failed to follow up and could not create the history and lost the match.

Earlier, Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Anil Kumble’s four-wicket haul restricted Deccan Chargers to 143 for six.

The Chargers lost their captain Adam Gilchrist in the first over and never really recovered from the setback. Herschelle Gibbs topscored for them with a 48-ball 53, while Andrew Symonds scored a brisk 33 off 21 balls.

Kumble (4/16) was in the thick of things right from the start and was quick to win the individual battle against his opposite number Gilchrist.

Kumble called it correct at toss, inserted the Chargers, opened the attack and his third delivery castled the scoreless Gilchrist to send groans across the Hyderabad dug-out.

Having achieved the target of removing the dangerous Australian early, Kumble then paved way for R Vinay Kumar and the right-arm pacer responded by removing T Suman (10) in his first over.

Symonds too would have been back in the hut soon with just five runs against his name but Rahul Dravid, statistically the safest pair of hands in international cricket, dropped a sitter off Vinay Kumar at slip.

Symonds decided he would made Bangalore pay the price for the lapse. So Vinay Kumar was dispatched across the ropes, Jacques Kallis copped back-to-back boundaries and Roelof van der Merwe was hit out of the park in his first over.

But just when things threatened to go out of control, Bangalore once again found their messiah in their skipper as Kumble returned to remove Symonds in the ninth over to cut short his 21-ball stay in the middle.

Gibbs and Rohit Sharma (24) guided the side past the 100-mark but boundaries had dried up by then.

Kumble went on to claim Rohit and Venugopal Rao (0) in his last over and the Chargers never got the late charge they needed so badly.

Anil Kumble celebrated like a teenager but bowled like the veteran champion he is, and kept Deccan Chargers to a below-par total in the IPL final, at the Wanderers. Even after the 52-run partnership in the middle overs between Rohit Sharma and Herschelle Gibbs, Deccan managed three less than what Royal Challengers Bangalore chased easily on a similar pitch at the same venue in the semi-final.

Towards the end Gibbs played a bizarre little innings. With two more sixes, he got to his fifty, and repaired his strike-rate, but faced only six balls in the last three overs. What was especially baffling was that he got 12 runs off those six balls, and yet kept taking twos to every ball in the last over, handing over the strike to Ryan Harris. Vinay for the second time in two nights bowled a superb last over, for just nine runs and a wicket this time. In those three overs Deccan added only 28.

Deccan Chargers took the bull in their emblem too seriously, as they came out charging to defend a modest total. They bowled with fire, they fielded aggressively, they sledged with vengeance, and literally, almost by physical force, hustled Royal Challengers Bangalore out in a thrilling final that lived up to the occasion.

Led by a never-say-die Adam Gilchrist, the Deccan Chargers bowlers and fielders responded magnificently to the challenge even though Roelof van der Merwe (32) and Ross Taylor (27) threatened to run away with the game. Pragyan Ojha, Andrew Symonds and Harmeet Singh claimed multiple wickets and were the stars.Ojha saw the backs of Manish Pandey (4) and Roelof van der Merwe (32) to keep Royal Challengers down to 69 for three in 10 overs. 'Jacques Kallis (16) was the first man dismissed by RP Singh who finished with an IPL record 23 wickets in the season.

The last of several turning points in the match was the 15th over of Bangalore's innings, bowled by Andrew Symonds who matched his verbal skills earlier in the night with the wickets of Ross Taylor and Virat Kohli off back-to-back deliveries. Bangalore were 99 for 6 when the over started.

Dravid and Taylor were at the crease at the break but Harmeet Singh bowled Dravid and Taylor pulled Symonds to the man at deep square-leg to signal the beginning of the end for Royal Challengers Bangalore.Earlier skipper Anil Kumble took four wickets, including those of Adam Gilchrist Andrew Symonds and Rohit Sharmat to ensure that Royal Challengers Bangalore kept their nose ahead of Deccan Chargers. After Kumble decided to bowl first, Deccan Chargers made 143 for six, recovering a bit from 62 for three in 10 overs.

Bangalore needed 27 from the last two overs, and 14 from the last, but RP Singh and Ryan Harris kept their cool despite a six from Robin Uthappa.

RP Singh in the last over, where 16 runs were needed off 6 balls, he really kept his cool and keep getting advices from his fellow team mates. He is the man for his captain. He is the find bowler of the tournament so far, and he had to keep with the name. He never let those free balls off his left handing seamer deliveries and kep the discipline with line and length.

Uthaappa could not do much with Kumble on the other end of the strike as they seem, the last ball only saw 2 runs.

Deccans win by 6 runs the match, the tournament and the IPL Season 2 they are the champions!! Truly and underdog story.. is not it?

Symonds, dropped at 5, made 33 brisk runs but his fall meant that Herschelle Gibbs (53 not out) and Rohit Sharma (24) shouldered the burden of giving Deccan Chargers at least a fighting total And they nearly had to rue falling short of par score by at least 25 runs against a side that was high on confidence when chasing. It is not often that a bowler who has taken four for 16 ends up on the losing side. And the heart reached out to Anil Kumble.

    Brief scores:

Deccan Chargers 143/6 in 20 overs (Herschelle Gibbs 53 not out, Andrew Symonds 33; Anil Kumble 4-16, Vinay Kumar 2-30) beat Royal Challengers Bangalore 137/9 in 20 overs (Roelof van der Merwe 32, Ross Taylor 27; Pragyan Ojha 3-28, Andrew Symonds 2-18).

Royal Challengers Bangalore: Anil Kumble, Mark Boucher, Rahul Dravid, Jacques Kallis, Virat Kohli, Praveen Kumar, Manish Pandey, Ross Taylor, Robin Uthappa, RE van der Merwe, R Vinay Kumar.

Glitz and glamour planned for IPL 2009 closing ceremony

IPL Closing Ceremony | IPL 2009 Closing Ceremony | Glitz, glamour planned for IPL closing ceremony

PRETORIA: After five weeks of exhilarating cricket, the Indian Premier League (IPL) will draw to a close in an electrifying closing ceremony at Wanderers Cricket Stadium in Johannesburg Sunday.

“The closing ceremony is going to be spectacular,” IPL media director Trevor Jones told BuaNews Friday.

In a dramatic turnaround of fortunes in the IPL, last year’s bottom-placed teams Bangalore Royal Challengers and Deccan Chargers will vie for the title in the grand finale of the second edition of the tournament.

“The IPL has been an amazing spectacle that has surprised many in South Africa and the world. To host this tournament at short notice; the results were just amazing,” he added.

The IPL cricket tournament was shifted from India to South Africa over security concerns of the players as the government had to concentrate on the parliamentary elections.

According to a detailed programme released Friday, the line-up for the closing ceremony includes performances by world renowned music legend Eddy Grant and the American super-star Akon.

Eddy Grant will perform the popular “Walking on Sunshine” and his anti-apartheid hit song “Gimme Hope Jo’anna”.

Akon, who recently met President Jacob Zuma, will perform his Grammy award songs accompanied by Shilpa Shetty, the Bollywood actress and co-owner of the IPL team the Rajasthan Royals.

Adding Bollywood glamour will be actress Katrina Kaif, who together with a troupe of Indian and South African dancers will perform the well-known “Jai Ho”, which was the theme song for the Oscar award wining movie “Slumdog Millionaire”.

President Zuma is expected to attend the IPL final match and would also address the stadium just before the game starts.

Other highlights on the night would include a programme featuring renowned percussionist Shivamani and a group of Indian and South African drummers.

Apart from the various musical programmes, the crowd would also be introduced to the Miss Bollywood IPL South Africa finalists, culminating with the crowning of the winner of the beauty competition.

About 1,500 flying lanterns will be lit and released, and a thrilling pyrotechnics show, using several thousand rounds of fireworks, will light up the Johannesburg skyline.

The glittering spectacle will end with a presentation ceremony for the winning cricket team.

Dune Kossatz wins the Miss Bollywood IPL Model and actress Dune Kossatz, 35, of East London was named Miss Bollywood IPL South Africa at a glittering event at the Montecasino entertainment complex in Johannesburg early on Sunday morning.

Kossatz, who had garnered the most Internet votes of 48 finalists selected from each of the IPL games held at various South African venues, was ecstatic at the opportunity to do screen tests for a movie with Shah Rukh Khan as part of her prize package.

This on-off component of the prize was finally revealed at the event after it was announced at the start of the series, and then changed midway through the contest to “a guided tour through Bollywood”, because organisers said guaranteeing a role with Shah Rukh Khan would be difficult.

Johannesburg Business Marketing graduate Genna Cloud, 24, who got the second greatest number of votes, was also named First Princess by the panel of judges and Dunay Nortje was crowned Second Princess.

"I think it's really great! I think we should all stick together and love one another and be respectful and tolerant of each other," said Kossatz, who expressed her desire to learn Hindi, after winning the crown.

Confessing that she had not seen any Bollywood movies yet, Kossatz said she was going to start doing so immediately. She also promised to start learning Hindi.
