Britains Got Talent Winner: Diversity Dance Troupe

Britains Got Talent Winner: Diversity Dance Troupe

So, Susan Boyle lost “Britain’s got Talent”. The winners of the show were a group of young men, called “Diversity Dance Troupe”. The winner was chosen by public vote. This verdict surprised everyone! Including the judges of the show.

Susan Boyle said some things to them:

“The best people won, they’re very entertaining, and lads - I wish you all the best.”

Again we see how the public always vote the wrong way! Despite all this, SuBo - as she is now known - handled things with a smile and cheered at the winners. Her last performance of “I Dreamed a Dream” was simply amazing.

What about the Britains Got Talent Winners? I have to say I only know Susan and the little kid with the great voice.

Secret to 6 Pack Abs - The Lifestyle Fit

by Dan Solaris

Everyone that has ever tried to get lean and maintain sexy 6 pack abs knows it’s no joke. A washboard stomach is a result of dedication, hard work and a tremendous amount of self-discipline. It is a product of a constant battle against laziness, self-indulgence and body fat.

To get 6 pack abs, a person not only has to watch what he eats- avoiding food with empty calories and sticking to healthier alternatives, he has to exercise consistently as well. Only by maintaining a healthy diet and doing the right combination of exercises that focus on calorie burn can one hope to get a flat and lean midsection that will turn heads on the beach.

It’s not as difficult as it sounds however. Contrary to what most people think, a diet for 6 pack abs doesn’t entail munching on rice cakes and swigging non-fat milk every day. It’s actually more beneficial to eat a full, well-balanced meal three times a day- with snacks in between. One doesn’t have to be limited to a life of crackers and celery sticks to

A balanced diet that includes protein, carbohydrates, dairy products and fruits and veggies will ensure you the proper amounts of nutrients. Eating lots of the latter will particularly load your system with fiber and folic acid- proven effective in lowering deadly LDL cholesterol and homocysteine (a proponent in heart disease) respectively.

A lot of people make the all too common mistake of drastically reducing their food intake in efforts to get lean. This can actually deter the body’s fat-burning properties because our metabolism drops when we’re hungry. It’s better to eat sparingly several times throughout the day than to pig-out each meal- specially dinner.

Even if we don’t do it on purpose, we tend to over-eat when we sit down for a meal after going for several hours without food. Doing this repeatedly will result in an outsized gut because eating too much in one sitting causes our stomach to balloon out of proportion- the last thing we want on getting 6 pack abs.

It’s quite impossible to lose fat quickly through dieting alone. A slew of exercises that maximize caloric energy burn from body fat are also necessary in bringing out the rippling muscles of the abdomen underneath the layer of belly fat. Only by both eating wisely and exercising consistently will get you flat washboard abs before your hair turns gray.

A combination of body weight aerobic exercises like running or biking, core-strengthening workouts using a wobble board or an exercise ball and conventional bodybuilding have been found to be the best in burning the most calories in less time. The more calories burned, the more fat eliminated and a flatter, leaner midsection will result.

The Meaning of Fitness

by Jonathan Blood Smyth

In the springtime we all start thinking about how we could be slimmer, fitter and look better for the summer, if we haven’t already taken up a gym membership in January and let it lapse fairly quickly as the first flush of enthusiasm faded. Through all this most of us do not stop and think about what fitness actually means to us. Being fit is a desired state but this state is not defined and we have little idea what all the measurements of fitness mean, all of which makes it less likely that our rather vague plan will be ultimately successful. Physiotherapists may have a somewhat clearer grasp of some of the concepts but most will not be very precise.

Coronary heart disease is one of the most important mortality factors in society today, so the prevention and management of heart disease is a health priority. Risk factors for heart disease are well known so there is ample guidance as to how we can reduce our risks and brings the various measures closer to safe levels. Fitness is a complex of abilities which needs be individually worked on to achieve a useful functional balance. Leaving out one of the aspects of fitness can expose us to weaknesses and injury apart from not hitting our goals.

In aerobic fitness the body can keep up a level of performance for a significant period of time without tiring, perhaps to cycle continuously for an hour. The training effect level must be achieved for 15 to 20 minutes or improvements in capacity will not be reached.

To achieve muscular fitness we need to acquire sufficient strength and endurance in our muscles to achieve the forces and duration needed.

Flexibility of our body tissues involves all our joint and muscular structures having enough extensibility to safely perform the planned activities.

Balance is the ability of our bodies to maintain postural control in a wide variety of static and dynamic activities, enabling us to widen our ability to function.

Coordination is the ability to dynamically integrate power, endurance and balance into functionally useful movements to achieve our goals.

Health and fitness can be investigated by a variety of measurement techniques which indicate the status of particular body systems. Blood pressure measurements should be not more than one hundred and forty over ninety to be in the healthy range. The upper number indicates the aortic pressure during the ventricular pumping action known as systole (sist-oley) and the lower number indicates aortic pressure when the left ventricle is filling ready for the next pumping phase, i.e. during diastole (di-ast-oley). If the blood vessel walls are flexible they give under pressure, allowing that pressure to drop while stiffer vessel walls allow increased pressures throughout the system.

The consequences of high blood pressure or hypertension can lead to problems with kidney function, peripheral perfusion, and the chances of stroke and of heart disease. Cholesterol levels are also important in heart disease and are recommended to be less than five millimoles per litre, relating to the risks of developing heart disease and atherosclerosis. The relationship between our bodyweight and our height gives us a measure of healthy weight and body fat levels by a measure known as the Body Mass Index or BMI. The BMI poster indicates in coloured regions on the chart the areas of the graph which indicate the categories of obese, overweight, healthy or underweight.

From 20 to 24.9 are the recommended limits for a healthy body mass index and the chart allows the indication of a desirable weight for our size so we can plan a realistic bodyweight to aim for if we are overweight. There are some difficulties with the BMI in that some people, perhaps due to their structure or muscular bulk, seem to get unreasonable results for their predicted desirable weight. However, the body weight index does give a good indication of what a desired weight should be and can be used along with the desired body fat content of between 21 and 27%.

Walmart opens its first store in India

Walmart | Wal-Mart | Bharti Wal-Mart | Walmart opens first store in India

Bharti Wal-Mart, the joint venture between Bharti Enterprises and US-based Wal-Mart Stores Inc, is likely to invest about 100 million dollars in the next 3-4 years to open 15 cash-and-carry stores in India.

During September 2008: Wal-Mart Store Inc was set to open its first cash-and-carry centre in India in 2009, the head of its India operations said on Wednesday.

Wal-Mart, which has a venture with India's Bharti Enterprises for cash-and-carry wholesale operations, had earlier said it aimed to open the first of its centres by year-end and open 10-15 centres over seven years.

"Certainly that was the initial plan," Raj Jain said at the sidelines of a business conference.

"We still stick with that. It could be faster, it could be slower." The first centre will be in northern India, he said.

“We have several facilities coming up in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh,” Bharti Enterprises Vice-Chairman and MD Rajan Mittal told reporters.

Bharti Wal-Mart opened its first store here today and would invest about 6-7 million dollars in opening of each store. The next store is likely by the end of this year.

“…Investment in each store will be about 6-7 million dollars without land and building…I am only talking about the insight of the store,” Mittal said.

He said that each store would come up on about 50,000-1 lakh square feet and would provide employment to about 5,000.

The joint venture between Bharti Enterprises and Wal-Mart Stores Inc was inked in 2007.

The company had last year announced that its cash-and-carry stores would be opened under the brand name of ‘BestPrice Modern Wholesale’.

The world's number one retailer Wal-Mart opened its first sales venture in India on Saturday as part of an ambitious plan to establish a foothold in the country's vast consumer market.

The US discount chain has teamed up with Bharti Enterprises, parent of India's biggest mobile firm Bharti Airtel, in a wholesale joint venture to be called Best Price Modern Wholesale.

"We have put in a lot of planning and preparation over the past 12 months and are delighted all the hard work will now bear fruit as we open the doors of our first cash-and-carry store in India," said Wal-Mart India head Raj Jain.

The opening of Wal-Mart's first "big box" outlet in Amritsar city in the wheat-bowl northern state of Punjab, is a high-stakes one for the US retailer, which has been expanding internationally to grow its revenues.

"India is first of all a country with close to 1.2 billion people and a strongly growing economy which is driven by personal consumption," said Jain.

"There's a need to start out on a learning curve with the Indian consumer and this is the first significant step in that direction," he said.

The Best Price Modern Wholesale will offer 6,000 food and non-food items at "competitive wholesale prices," a Wal-Mart statement said.

Best Price will not be open to retail shoppers but will serve small stores, fruit and vegetable sellers, restaurants, hotels and other business outlets.

Under India's tight foreign investment rules, no overseas chains are permitted in the retail sector -- except for single-brand outlets such as Nokia or Reebok -- to protect local retail players.

Foreign groups such as Wal-Mart can only be wholesalers and must partner with domestic companies to enter the retail market, valued at 400 billion dollars and forecast to grow rapidly in the coming years.

U.S. retail giant Wal-Mart is all set to gain its foothold in India, ending years of opposition from Indian retailers, the company said.

Wal-Mart's India entry next week will be a joint venture wholesale store but Financial Times reported such modern retail ventures have not made much of an impact in a country where most customers are used to small independent shopkeepers.

Calcutta's Telegraph reported the new store, to be called Best Price Modern Wholesale, will open in Amritsar in the northern Punjab state.

"It will open early next week," Wal-Mart's India spokesman Arun Mowar was quoted as saying.

The world's largest retailer plans to open 10 more outlets in India in the next two years. The Telegraph said Indian consumers will not be able to shop at the Amritsar outlet. As a wholesale unit, it will cater mainly to vegetable vendors, hospitals, hotels and restaurants.

India's retail market is forecast to double in another six years from the current $375 billion, the report said.

Earlier, Wal-Mart had faced tough opposition in India from small traders and the Left parties. The debacle of the Left parties in the latest elections is expected to make the company's entry smoother, the report said.

"The new government should look at opening up retail by bringing in foreign direct investment," said Rajan Bharti Mittal, vice chairman of Bharti Enterprises, which is the Indian company in the joint venture.

Britain's Marks and Spencer and Tesco also have concluded alliances with local Indian partners, Financial Times said.
