NITIN JAIN who also has topped IIT JEE this year. When results were declared on Saturday, he became the second student to accomplish this feat after Piyush Srivastav who had also topped both the exams in 2005. Nitin scored 417 out of a total 432 and topped the list of aspirants who would receive calls for counselling.
He topped among 9,62,119 candidates who has appeared for the exam.
Jain, however, has decided to take admission in IIT, Delhi, using his IIT-JEE merit list.
“I was expecting the top position in AIEEE as I had done well in the test. It gives much pleasure by securing top positions in both the national level entrance examinations,” an elated Nitin, a student of Modern Vidya Niketan in Faridabad, told PTI

Walmart opens its first store in India

Bharti Wal-Mart, the joint venture between Bharti Enterprises and US-based Wal-Mart Stores Inc, is likely to invest about 100 million dollars in the next 3-4 years to open 15 cash-and-carry stores in India.
During September 2008: Wal-Mart Store Inc was set to open its first cash-and-carry centre in India in 2009, the head of its India operations said on Wednesday.
Wal-Mart, which has a venture with India's Bharti Enterprises for cash-and-carry wholesale operations, had earlier said it aimed to open the first of its centres by year-end and open 10-15 centres over seven years.
"Certainly that was the initial plan," Raj Jain said at the sidelines of a business conference.
"We still stick with that. It could be faster, it could be slower." The first centre will be in northern India, he said.
“We have several facilities coming up in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh,” Bharti Enterprises Vice-Chairman and MD Rajan Mittal told reporters.
Bharti Wal-Mart opened its first store here today and would invest about 6-7 million dollars in opening of each store. The next store is likely by the end of this year.

"India is first of all a country with close to 1.2 billion people and a strongly growing economy which is driven by personal consumption," said Jain.
"There's a need to start out on a learning curve with the Indian consumer and this is the first significant step in that direction," he said.
The Best Price Modern Wholesale will offer 6,000 food and non-food items at "competitive wholesale prices," a Wal-Mart statement said.
Best Price will not be open to retail shoppers but will serve small stores, fruit and vegetable sellers, restaurants, hotels and other business outlets.
Under India's tight foreign investment rules, no overseas chains are permitted in the retail sector -- except for single-brand outlets such as Nokia or Reebok -- to protect local retail players.
Foreign groups such as Wal-Mart can only be wholesalers and must partner with domestic companies to enter the retail market, valued at 400 billion dollars and forecast to grow rapidly in the coming years.

"It will open early next week," Wal-Mart's India spokesman Arun Mowar was quoted as saying.
The world's largest retailer plans to open 10 more outlets in India in the next two years. The Telegraph said Indian consumers will not be able to shop at the Amritsar outlet. As a wholesale unit, it will cater mainly to vegetable vendors, hospitals, hotels and restaurants.
India's retail market is forecast to double in another six years from the current $375 billion, the report said.
Earlier, Wal-Mart had faced tough opposition in India from small traders and the Left parties. The debacle of the Left parties in the latest elections is expected to make the company's entry smoother, the report said.
"The new government should look at opening up retail by bringing in foreign direct investment," said Rajan Bharti Mittal, vice chairman of Bharti Enterprises, which is the Indian company in the joint venture.
Britain's Marks and Spencer and Tesco also have concluded alliances with local Indian partners, Financial Times said.

The Tamil Nadu government Sunday announced huge increases in the salaries of its employees ranging between Rs.1,774 and Rs.7,300 per month.
The pay hike is expected to shoot up the government's annual expenditure by Rs.5,155.79 crore, while the initial cost would be around Rs.11,093 crore, an official statement said.
The state government late on Saturday evening approved the 6th Pay Commission recommendations for higher education teachers. The state cabinet gave its nod to the pay revision approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
According to the decision, state universities and degree colleges will have revised scales as per the rules and regulations of UGC. The benefit will be given with effect from January 1, 2006. The decision came following threat by teachers to launch an agitation, which would have disturbed the annual examinations due to start in all state universities in March.http://www.ugc.ac.in/images/logougc.gif
Teachers were agitated as the Election Commission is likely to issue notification for Lok Sabha elections on March 2, thereafter the government would have not been able to issue an order on pay hike, delaying the matter at least by 3-4 months. The fact was highlighted by the TOI on Saturday following which the government swung into action and the approval came in the evening.
The state government will have to bear only 20 per cent of the hike as UGC will pay 80 per cent of the amount. There are around 17,500 teachers in 12 state universities, 345 government-aided colleges and 125 government colleges in the state. Over 20 lakh students are enrolled in these institutions. “We welcome the move which has come at the right time,” said Moulindu Mishra, president, Lucknow University Associated Colleges Teachers’ Association.
On the basis of the recommendations of a special committee and the Sixth Pay Commission, the government has decided to hike salaries of its employees despite additional initial financial burden and increased annual expenditures, it said.
"The total payment will be paid in instalments between the current financial year and 2011," the statement added.
According to the statement, the salary increments will range between Rs.1,774 and Rs.7,300 per month from office assistant to deputy collector.

Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, IGNCA was established in 1987 as an autonomous institution under the Department of Culture, and envisioned as a centre for research, academic pursuit and dissemination in the field of the arts. ‘The Arts’ as a wide spectrum, encompassing subjects from archaeology to dance and anthropology to the photographic art, enveloping them in a complementary and non-demarcated vision. In its functioning, the IGNCA has met its mandate and continues to work in this direction. Invites application for the post of following posts for deputation and / short term contract for its Delhi office:
1. Professor : 07 posts, Pay Scale : PB4 Rs.37400-67000 Grade Pay Rs.10000,
Areas of work : 1 post in each studies (SE Asia and /or east Asia), Contemporary Indian Art and Photography, Area Studies (Central Asia and/or West Asia), Performace Studies with specialisation in India music/ dance/contemporary & traditional theatre, cultural anthropology/ Enthology/ Sociology, Art history/ Archeology/ History, Sanskrit, Classical & Modern Indian Language.
Qualification & Experience : post-graduate degree in relevant/related discipline. Experience of guiding research at doctoral level will be desirable.
Age Limit : Not Exceeding 56 years.
2. Associate Professor : 06 posts, Pay Scale : PB3 Rs.15600-39100 Grade Pay Rs.7600,
Areas of work : 1 post in each in Medieval Indian Art & Visual Culture, Indian Photography & Contemporary Popular Visual Culture, Sociology/ Cultural Anthropology/ Political Science, Folklore Studies, Film & Media, Museology & Conservation.
Qualification & Experience : Masters degree in the relevant or related stream; 8 years’ teaching/ research experience; knowledge of computer operation.
Age Limit : Not Exceeding 56 years.
